POLLACK CONSULTING was established in late 2003 and evolved from Bruce Pollack Publicity that commenced trading in late 1982. The focus of the Company is to research, develop and implement strategic promotional and publicity campaigns for the entertainment and leisure industries. These campaigns are implemented by Pollack Consulting, either as a standalone public relations company, or where appropriate engaging a team of specialists representing the best public relations expertise across the nation.
Pollack Consulting has represented many of the biggest names in the world in entertainment and many sold out live theatre productions and exhibitions. Widely recognised as the ‘go to’ leader in public relations for live entertainment in Australia, the company has also received recognition from the Public Relations Institute of Australia in receiving the prestigious 2012 Public Relations Institute Award - Highly Commended for La Traviata - Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour. This inaugural Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour set the benchmark for all future productions, garnering huge intrastate, interstate and international tourism. Additionally, this event won the top prize of the Australian Event of the Year at Australian Event Awards.
Pollack Consulting has represented superstars including Prince, Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand, Bette Midler, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, Liza Minnelli and Luciano Pavarotti to hit national musical tours such as West Side Story, Jersey Boys, Cats and Fiddler on the Roof for an extensive clientele.
The most successful exhibition that ever happened in Australia – Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs which sold just under one million tickets and generated over $4.1 million dollars in editorial media coverage was a client of Pollack Consulting. Most recently in December 2019 Pollack Consulting provided PR to three international superstars, Elton John, Channing Tatum and Keith Urban, in three separate events.
The sheer breadth of Bruce Pollack’s contribution to Australia’s cultural history beyond superstars, mega musicals and exhibitions for the past 37 years is astounding – from home-grown talent; launching Sydney’s newest theatre Sydney Coliseum Theatre, the biggest mental health festival in the world The Big Anxiety Festival, and the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras Gala, to international collaborations; The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, Andre Rieu in Concert, The Royal Ballet, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, and tours by Cirque du Soleil.
Bruce Pollack has demonstrated his skills in partnership with Government in the planning and delivery of The Star City Casino, national funding for the National Sound and Film Archive, National Arts Week and the hand-over of Bunderoon and the Boyd Bequest, the opening of the Museum of Contemporary Art and hand-over of the Power Bequest. During this period Bruce also successfully represented the Holdsworth Galleries presenting exhibitions by artists Boyd, Friend, Juniper, Blackman and Cassab. Other examples of significant national PR campaigns in the visual arts area include the annual awards and trade shows for Crafts Council of Australia and the Moet & Chandon Art Awards.
Recently on behalf of the Trafalgar Group and the NSW Government through Create NSW and Destination NSW Pollack Consulting staged the announcement of the tender of the Theatre Royal.
Bruce Pollack also has a strong commitment to contributing to the community and events of significance, such as the State Memorial Service for Hazel Hawke at the Sydney Opera House, an event attended by the five living current and former Prime Ministers, the Governor General and NSW Governor. For many years he was the Honorary publicist for the Helpmann Awards, Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras and is currently Deputy Chair of the Friends of the Australian Ballet.
Pollack Consulting is currently implementing a pro bono campaign for the restoration of the Metro Minerva Theatre in Kings Cross.
With a strong social conscience and belief in philanthropy Bruce has contributed to many community, health and arts boards, he was a founding Director of the AIDS Trust of Australia, the Aurora Group and the Gay and Lesbian Counselling Service. On 26 January 2016, the Governor General of Australia appointed Bruce Pollack a Member in the General Division of the Order of Australia “For significant service to the community in the areas of social welfare and public health”.
